Do Bar Fights Count? received the following review in January 2007 when judged for the Writer's Digest 14th Annual International Self-Published Book Awards:

"There are many books about the craft of writing available, but this one takes on a specific mission and never deviates from that focus. In the process, not only does the book deliver many useful bits of craft for any writer, but it highlights specific issues faced by veterans, especially veterans who aspire to write."
"The material presented in the book is first-rate and exciting,"

Kim appeared in the November 8, 2006 issues of The Clackamas Review and The Oregon City News about the book for Veterans' Day.

Kim has an article in the June 2006 issue of the Blue Spader Newsletter.

The Clackamas County Insights, June 2006, reviewed the book: "Cook's adventures include a hilarious story about a mule and a more serious foray into suicide. She talks about specific veteran groups such as disabled, Native American, women, bikers, gay and lesbian, minorities and even incarcerated vets. The book is a mixed bag of humor, sadness, insightfulness and down-home common sense. "Do Bar Fights Count?" is designed to help heal the heart.

Do Bar FIghts Count? How To Write Your Military Stories was listed in the May 2006 issue of the The Writer's Digest Book Club newsletter under "Book Club Members Celebrate!"

An article about Bob Morris, a former student of Kim's, was in the Hillsboro Argus newspaper, May 9, 2006, and featured Kim's book. Check it out online at www.oregonlive.com and search for Robert Morris.

Check out the article on Kim in The Gresham Outlook newspaper. Go to www.theoutlookonline.com and search for Do Bar Fights Count? That should take you to the link for the April 29, 2006 cover article. "It was a great photo, even if it did scare me at four columns wide," said Kim.
